First things first

Mama and Papa got married 27 years ago on the 3rd of Oct :)
Happy Anniversary Lovebirds xx

On Monday I had a day off work, and, of course it was pretty cold and tipping down with rain!
There was only me in the house so I didn't bother with the heating. Instead I lit a fire and sat and read my book and drank tea- it was truly blissful

I took a few minutes out of being lost in my book, to try out something I found online...

Arm knitting! (The general gist of this is that your arms are the knitting needles)

So I arm knitted myself a beautiful cobalt blue scarf. It took me round about 20 minutes and I just love the results :) Here's a photo...

For anyone out there who wants to try something new, here's the link to give arm knitting a go:

Enjoy!
and show me your creations

So... It's been a while!

As well as 'showers', April brings three family birthdays.
This year's birthday creations were based around the fact that I bought a tub of Popping Candy and I wanted to use it.

So the first offering was Popping Candy Jazzies:

These were pretty tasty... :P

Next on the agenda were Exploding Birds Nests:

Ok, I may have got carried away with the wrapping :)

I made them by melting a bar of chocolate in a 'bain-marie', then stirring in Branflakes. After I had popped them into muffin cases, I sprinkled them with popping candy and hundreds and thousands. Oh yummy!

...and the white stuff is back

So the snow is here again, and causing havoc.
Neither of the parents are home from work, one is 7 miles away and considering walking home and the other is 32 miles away and moving nowhere fast. But I digress, the principal reason for this post was to showcase my latest baking extravaganza:

TA DAA!

 Lemon Meringue Pie!

I'm really getting into this baking malarky...

and another creation that I made a few days ago...

Baked Rice Pudding :)

Over and out
 (until the next culinary news!)

Everything in Moderation...

... Except chocolate brownies!!!

I have made two batches this morning, one for the St John guys and one for the work guys. They are making the house smell rather wonderful :)

In the making...

and the finished product...

This afternoon's activites are a coffee with Miss Inskip, and then to the community centre to give blood.

I make Edibles not Presentables

Another recipe to add to the book...

Banana Cream Pie

Whilst creating this scrumptious dessert, I inadvertently cooked up my first batch of custard from scratch too. I also introduced shortcrust pastry into my expanding recipe repertoire.

Here is the finished product:

...like I said Edibles not Presentables - It was truly yummy though!

Oh hello Janurary Snow...

... The more it snows (Tiddely-Pom)
The more it goes (Tiddely-Pom)
The more it goes on snowing (Tiddely-Pom)
And nobody knows (Tiddely-Pom)
How cold my toes (Tiddely-Pom)
How cold my toes are growing (Tiddely-Pom Tiddely-Pom Tiddely-Pom Tiddely-Pom)...

Here, I present my newest creation:

A rather elaborate and pretty snowflake made from paper :)

A short, but sweet post.

Tara for now! xx

Saturday, 1 December 2012

and here's one I made earlier...

So this year I decided to make an advent calender for my parents. So I purchased 25 small envelopes, some mini toadstall pegs, and of course some choccys!

and here is the finished product:

In each envelope there is a piece of card with 'Merry Christmas' written on it in a different language.
and today's language? well, take a look for yourself...

On the other side of the card is a message/picture/quote. And also the chosen language is revealed. Not forgetting the obligatory chocolate!

Today's message says: "Time for Hog Roast & Hot Tub!" as tonight is my Brother's birthday celebrations and, as the note says, he will be having a hog roast and a homemade hot tub.

Merry Christmas lovely people! :)
